A video from an English medium school affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education has triggered strong reactions online. The clip shows several girls performing a mujra style dance during a school event while many students are seated in the audience.
In the video, a few girls appear dancing to a Bollywood song while wrapped only in towels. The school reportedly runs classes from nursery to tenth class, which means children of many age groups may have watched the performance closely.
Schools are expected to teach discipline, dignity and responsible behaviour. In India, many people see a school as a temple of learning. Because of this belief, such performances inside a school campus have shocked many parents and citizens.
Several people on social media are demanding action against the organisers, principal and staff who allowed the event. Some have also said that parents of the students who performed should be questioned and properly guided by the authorities.
Values learned in school often stay for life. For that reason, many believe everyone involved must act responsibly so schools continue to remain places of dignity, respect and meaningful education.
An English medium CBSE board school organised this mujra event.
Look at how shamelessly these girls are doing vulgar mujra.
So many children are in the audience. What will they learn?
Organisers of this event should be arrested.
Why can’t we have a mujra free society? pic.twitter.com/CgS1uku7zL
