Swiggy Guy Falls from Train: Cost of 10-Minute Delivery?

Swiggy delivery partner train incident

A disturbing video from Anantapur has gone viral on social media. It shows a Swiggy delivery partner falling from a moving train after delivering an order.

The incident reportedly took place on 8th or 9th January in Andhra Pradesh. The video was shared on Instagram by Bijay Anand, a passenger travelling on the same train.

According to Bijay Anand, the delivery partner lost balance while trying to get off the train. Moments earlier, he had handed over the food order to a passenger onboard.

The delivery was made on the Prashanti Express, train number 18464. Bijay noted that the train stopped at the station for barely one or two minutes.

Reports claim the customer was travelling in a First AC coach. These coaches have multiple entry points, which increased the time taken to complete the delivery.

By the time the handover was done, the train had already started moving. This forced the delivery partner to rush while getting down.

With his bike parked outside the station and more orders pending, the rider attempted to step off the moving train. He lost balance and fell hard on the platform.

In his post, Bijay wrote, “No delivery is worth a human life. Do better.” He also tagged Swiggy, the rail ministry, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Narendra Modi to draw attention to the issue.

The video spread rapidly across platforms, sparking outrage over the treatment of gig economy workers in India. Many users highlighted the dangerous conditions delivery partners are forced to work under.

Some reactions went beyond this incident. Users criticised systemic issues that push workers into life-threatening situations in the name of speed.

One comment pointed out that trains often tolerate hour-long delays but deny a five-minute halt at smaller stations. The contradiction drew sharp criticism.

NGOs and social groups are now questioning the ethics of the 10-minute delivery model. With many young workers depending on gig jobs, users are demanding safer and more humane working conditions.
