The BCCI has approved a major hike in match fees for women’s domestic cricketers. The decision came during the Apex Council meeting on Monday. With this move, you now see women’s domestic pay moving closer to men’s cricket.
Women’s match fees now close to men
Under the revised structure, you will earn almost the same match fees as men in domestic cricket. The BCCI aims to reduce the long standing pay gap and reward women players more fairly for their performances.
New fees for one day and multi day matches
If you are part of the playing XI in domestic one day and multi day matches, you will earn Rs 50,000 per day. If you sit out, you will receive Rs 25,000 per match under the new system.
Revised pay for T20 matches
For domestic T20 matches, playing XI members will now earn Rs 25,000 per match. Non playing members will get Rs 12,500, doubling the earlier fees and offering better financial security.
Sharp jump from earlier payments
Earlier, senior women players earned Rs 20,000 per match in the playing XI and Rs 10,000 on the bench. With the new rates, you now see more than double the pay in several categories.
Junior women players also benefit
In junior women’s tournaments, playing XI members will earn Rs 25,000 per day and reserves Rs 12,500. For junior T20 matches, the fees are Rs 12,500 for playing XI players and Rs 6,250 for non playing members.
Seasonal earnings set to rise
Reports say a senior woman cricketer earlier earned about Rs 2 lakh per season from league matches alone. After this hike, your seasonal income will increase sharply, even without knockout appearances.
How men’s domestic pay compares
Men’s domestic players earn Rs 60,000 per day with over 40 Ranji matches, Rs 50,000 for 21 to 40 games, and Rs 40,000 for fewer matches. Reserve players earn between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000.
Pay hike follows historic World Cup win
This decision comes nearly two months after India won their first Women’s ODI World Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur led India to victory over South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
Umpires and referees also get a raise
The BCCI has also increased fees for umpires and match referees. You will now see umpires earning a fixed Rs 40,000 per day in league matches across domestic tournaments.
Knockout match payments revised
For knockout games, umpires will earn between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 per day based on the match and tournament. The same structure applies to 79 match referees under the new policy.
