The International Cricket Council (ICC) and Jiostar have firmly denied reports claiming trouble in their media rights agreement for 2024–27. Both organisations confirmed that the deal remains active and unchanged.
ICC and Jiostar Issue Joint Clarification
In a joint statement released on Friday, the ICC and Jiostar rejected rumours suggesting Jiostar had exited the agreement. They clearly stated that Jiostar continues as the official ICC media rights partner in India.
Background of the Media Rights Deal
Jiostar was formed after Reliance’s media business merged with Disney’s India operations. Earlier in 2022, before this merger, Disney had secured ICC media rights for the 2024–27 cycle. The deal was valued at over 3 billion.
Official Statement on Deal Status
The ICC and Jiostar confirmed that the existing agreement remains fully in force. They said any claims of Jiostar withdrawing from the partnership are incorrect and misleading.
Reports Triggering the Clarification
This statement came after reports suggested Jiostar had exited the final two years of the deal due to heavy financial losses. Both organisations dismissed these claims without ambiguity.
Preparations for Upcoming ICC Events
The ICC and Jiostar also assured that preparations for upcoming ICC events are progressing as planned. They reaffirmed their focus on delivering uninterrupted and world class coverage across India.
No Impact on Viewers or Advertisers
Both organisations stressed that viewers, advertisers, and industry partners will not see any changes. Regular coordination continues on operations and business strategies to support cricket’s growth.
