Rinku Singh has left the Indian team camp during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 after the passing of his father, Khachandra Singh. He passed away on February 27 after a long battle with stage 4 liver cancer.
Khachandra Singh was undergoing treatment at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida. In recent days, he was on ventilator support as his condition turned critical. Despite continuous medical care, he could not recover.
The tragic news came while the Indian team was in Chennai for the Super 8 stage. The 28 year old immediately left the camp and travelled to Aligarh to be with his family.
Earlier, Rinku Singh had returned home when his father’s health worsened. He later rejoined the squad after a brief period. Following the sad news, he has now left the team once again.
He was not part of the playing XI in India’s recent match against Zimbabwe. The team made changes to the combination. He stayed with the squad and was seen on the field as a substitute.
In the T20 World Cup 2026 so far, he has played five matches. He has scored 24 runs while fulfilling his finishing role for the team.
His availability for India’s remaining matches remains uncertain. This includes the crucial clash against West Indies. The team management has not shared any official update yet.
This is a deeply difficult time for the player and his family. Cricket naturally takes a back seat in such moments. The Indian team and fans stand with him, and his return depends entirely on his readiness.
