Team India’s support staff is going through a major change. Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has left the Indian team after the white ball tour of England and is set to return to Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of the next IPL season.
Ryan was one of Gautam Gambhir‘s first coaching appointments after taking charge in 2024.
He worked closely with the players across batting and fielding departments. Despite, after India’s disappointing performances in recent months, his journey with Team India has come to an end.
The BCCI has also ended its association with fielding coach T. Dilip after his contract expired. Both Ryan and Dilip continued with the team until the end of the England tour, but neither received a contract extension.
Replacing Dilip is Subhadeep Ghosh, who has been appointed as India’s new fielding coach.
He has previously worked with the National Cricket Academy, India A, India Under-19, Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
During Ryan’s time with Team India, India won major white ball titles, but the team also struggled in Test cricket and recently lost back to back white ball series against Ireland and England. Those results increased the pressure on the coaching staff.
Ryan is now expected to reunite with Kolkata Knight Riders, while Ghosh will begin his new role from India’s upcoming Sri Lanka tour.
