Yashasvi Jaiswal made a strong start to the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, proving once again why he’s one of India’s most promising young batters.
Jaiswal Shines in Tough Conditions
Playing for Mumbai against Rajasthan in Jaipur, Jaiswal scored a gritty 67 off 97 balls on a lively pitch at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium. The ball was seaming and swinging sharply, but he looked calm and in control throughout.
Crucial Opening Partnership
After Rajasthan chose to bowl first, Jaiswal partnered with Musheer Khan to give Mumbai a solid 100-run opening stand. He struck eight fours and a six before edging one off Aniket Choudhary. His innings set the tone for Mumbai’s strong start and showed his class under pressure.
Consistent Performer in Red-Ball Cricket
This knock marked Jaiswal’s 17th first-class half-century, adding to his 16 centuries. In 47 first-class matches, he has scored 4,587 runs at an average close to 56 a remarkable record for a 23-year-old. Of these, 2,428 runs have come in Test cricket at an average of 51.65.
Among Young India’s Best
At just 23, Jaiswal has already notched up seven Test centuries, placing him joint fourth among Indian batters to achieve that milestone before turning 24. His form continues to strengthen his case as one of India’s most dependable red-ball players.
Fans Praise His Determination
Trollers and fans alike appreciated his innings on social media. One fan wrote, “The ball was seaming and swinging like hell, and Jaiswal still fought hard for his 67.” Another commented, “It’s sad that a player of such talent is playing only one format due to politics and favoritism.”
