After the 2-1 ODI series defeat to England, former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has raised tough questions over the team’s long term planning while comparing Gautam Gambhir‘s tenure with Rahul Dravid’s.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said every coaching staff should leave behind a clear roadmap so the next management can continue the same process instead of beginning from scratch.
He also said coaches should be groomed just like players to ensure a smooth transition.
Ashwin praised Dravid for giving players enough time to settle into their roles instead of making quick changes.
He said the former coach showed trust in players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav, creating a stable environment where players knew their roles and responsibilities.
The former spinner also highlighted the partnership between Dravid and VVS Laxman, saying both worked together to keep Indian cricket moving in the same direction.
Ashwin finished with a strong remark, saying the best people to judge Rahul Dravid‘s coaching are the players who shared the dressing room with him.
