A rumour spread across social media yesterday, claiming that actor and comedian Soori had indirectly attacked TVK Party leader Vijay over the recent stampede tragedy in Karur. The post, which included an edited image, quickly gained traction among fans.
The fake post alleged that Soori had criticised Vijay during a press conference, claiming that “whether it’s a disaster or a tragedy, a political party should stand by the people.” It went on to accuse a Tamil Nadu party of shutting its doors and hiding after the Karur incident.
Even though the post was entirely baseless, many users believed it and began saying that Soori had taken a direct dig at Vijay’s silence following the Karur tragedy. The rumour spread rapidly across multiple social platforms.
Reacting to the viral post, Soori took to X to issue a clarification. He stated that spreading false information harms society and urged people to act with responsibility and maturity before sharing such content.
He further added that society needs positivity and that everyone has their own duties to focus on. He encouraged users to concentrate on their work instead of circulating fake news for attention.
Following Soori’s response, several users on social media began calling out those who spread the rumour. Some even accused DMK supporters of pushing the fake story to damage the public image of TVK leader Vijay.
