GOAT Director’s Statements— Brave Or Blunder?

Director Venkat Prabhu

Venkat Prabhu has created some fantastic films, but his track record as a filmmaker has been inconsistent. While he’s delivered gems like Chennai, Mankatha, and Maanaadu, he’s also been behind duds like Biryani, Masss, and Custody.

Now, he’s gearing up for The GOAT with Thalapathy Vijay, and Venkat Prabhu is aggressively promoting the film across various platforms.

In a recent interview, he described the film as fast-paced with an unpredictable screenplay. Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha with Ajith is considered one of the iconic Tamil films, and he boldly claimed that GOAT will be like “Mankatha on steroids.”

He further added in another interview that GOAT will be as entertaining as Shankar’s Sivaji and even more stylish and engaging than Maanaadu.

While it’s good to exude confidence before a film’s release, making such bold statements can sometimes backfire.

The mediocre music of GOAT has already been trolled by even Vijay’s most hardcore fans, and the trailer didn’t leave much of an impression either.

In this context, the director’s big claims could be seen as both a bold move and a potential setup for future trolling if the film fails to meet expectations.

It’s often better to let the film speak for itself rather than rely on grand statements. With the current dull hype surrounding the film, if GOAT turns out to be good, it will be a pleasant surprise for the audience.

However, if the film disappoints, these lofty statements could come back to haunt Venkat Prabhu, leading to brutal trolling on social media not only from the neutral audience but also from loyal Vijay fans.
