This Diwali, Kollywood is gearing up for an exciting box office clash without any big stars in sight. Three medium-budget films with rising actors are set for a grand theatrical release.
Among them, Pradeep Ranganathan’s Dude and Dhruv Vikram’s Bison are the top contenders, while Harish Kalyan’s Diesel carries a decent buzz.
Dude is a youthful entertainer in Pradeep’s signature style, much like his earlier hits Love Today and Dragon. In contrast, Bison, directed by Mari Selvaraj, is a grounded sports drama. Both films have generated strong anticipation and are heading for a direct clash this Diwali.
For Dhruv Vikram, Bison is crucial. Despite acting in two films earlier, he hasn’t yet achieved a major breakthrough. The success of this film could finally put him in the spotlight.
Pradeep Ranganathan, on the other hand, already has two blockbusters behind him. Even if Dude performs averagely, it won’t affect his standing. But if it turns out to be another hit, he could easily move up to Kollywood’s Tier 2 actor list.
All three Diwali releases Dude, Bison, and Diesel promise distinct flavours and fresh storytelling. It’ll be interesting to see which one captures the audience’s attention and dominates the box office when they release on October 17.
