
Popular director Vishnuvardhan, known for his movies such as Shershaah and Ajith’s Billa, has found himself in the midst of controversy after making a false statement in a recent interview, which has since gone viral on social media.
Vishnuvardhan’s film Nesippaya, starring Aditi Shankar, the daughter of director Shankar, was released a few days ago. As part of the film’s promotions, he gave interviews to popular YouTube channels.

In one such interview, Vishnuvardhan claimed that Rajinikanth’s Billa, released in 1980, was a flop. He further stated, “I remade the movie in 2007 with Ajith Kumar, sir, because I love the character very much, as it was a grey-shaded character.”
This comment sparked outrage among fans and quickly went viral. Rajinikanth’s manager responded on X (formerly Twitter), clarifying that Billa was a silver jubilee hit. He also urged Vishnuvardhan to ensure accuracy in his statements.

Rajinikanth’s fans on social media criticized Vishnuvardhan heavily, with many pointing out that while he is a talented director, his statement was incorrect. They demanded that he issue a public apology for spreading false information about Rajinikanth’s Billa.
