Suriya’s most anticipated Retro movie, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1st. The shooting of this movie was completed a few months ago, and now it is in the post-production stage.
According to reports, Retro movie’s entire overseas rights were bankrolled by Home Screen Entertainments; previously, they had acquired the overseas rights of Sivakarthikeyan’s Amaran and ensured a grand opening.
Due to Suriya’s Kanguva movie failure, overseas rights were sold for a low price, as Kanguva was made with a budget of around 350 crores and has collected only 100 crores worldwide, say the trade experts.
Despite the terrible failure of Kanguva, Retro holds a huge hype amongst the audiences as the team created the buzz right from the first-look poster.
Also, for the past 10 years, Suriya hasn’t had a single blockbuster success in theatres, and his last two critically acclaimed movies, which were Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim, were released directly on OTT platforms.
Let us see whether Retro becomes a blockbuster success and Karthik Subbaraj helps Suriya to make a solid comeback in his acting career on May 1st.
