Suriya, after the terrible setback of Kanguva, is now making a comeback with Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, and is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on May 1st.
Yesterday, the trailer of Retro was released and has received positive responses from the audience. Despite the positive reviews, it’s shocking to see Suriya in a dark role in this movie, says the Kollywood audiences.

Some netizens on social media commented that, with the trailer, it’s evident that Suriya’s character in the movie would be more of a grey shade, even though the cameo role of Rolex character in the movie Vikram has earned him a lot of fans and has been one of the major reasons for the success of Kamal Haasan’s Vikram.
When Suriya acted in a full-length grey-shaded character in the movie Rakta Charitra, released in 2010, the movie ended up as a terrible disaster. So, it’s going to be a big question mark whether people will accept Suriya’s dark character in Retro.

At the same time, some people were particularly appreciating the costume designer of the Retro movie, as the retro-styled costumes in the trailer offered never-before-seen stylish looks for the actors in Kollywood.
However, Retro has huge expectations amongst the audience, and it remains to be seen whether Retro satisfies the expectations of the audience, emerges as a blockbuster success, and helps Suriya to make a solid comeback from Kanguva’s setback.
