Some Kollywood audiences are criticizing Atlee, stating that after achieving considerable success in the Tamil film industry, he is now working only with the stars from other industries, and neglecting Kollywood.

While some people have commented that director Rajamouli, has never cast a Tamil hero in a lead role, and wanted to make Telugu Industry proud. But the Tamil directors, are choosing to work with Telugu heroes, and aiming to elevate the Telugu film industry rather elevating Kollywood.

Apart from Atlee, Nelson Dilipkumar is now in talks with NTR for his next, and Lokesh Kanagaraj is in discussions with Prabhas for his next.

On the other hand, Trade experts defend these directors. They argue that producing a pan-Indian film with a massive budget necessitates, casting actors with proven Pan Indian success casting actors with a proven market of ₹400 crores, and currently, apart from Rajinikanth and Vijay, no other Kollywood stars possess such a wide reach.; This, according to the experts, is the primary reason why directors like Atlee are collaborating with pan-Indian heroes from other film industries.
