Mari Selvaraj’s upcoming plans have surprised many Dhanush fans. After the success of Bison, the director officially announced his next film with Dhanush, tentatively titled D56. However, reports now suggest that he may begin another project before starting the much-awaited historical drama.
According to industry buzz, Mari Selvaraj is planning a sequel to his critically acclaimed film Vaazhai. The sequel is expected to feature Kathir, Priyanka Mohan and Kayadu Lohar in lead roles. An official announcement is likely to arrive soon.
Reports also suggest that D56 will take more time to begin because of its large scale and historical backdrop. At the same time, Dhanush is currently occupied with D55, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy. Because of this gap, Mari Selvaraj is reportedly considering Vaazhai 2 as his next immediate project.
This speculation has triggered mixed reactions among Kollywood audiences. Many viewers feel that Vaazhai worked because of its grounded storytelling and realistic village setting. Some are now unsure whether Priyanka Mohan and Kayadu Lohar would suit the tone and world of the sequel.
A section of Dhanush fans also believes that Mari Selvaraj should focus entirely on the pre-production work for D56. Since the film is expected to be mounted on a huge budget, they feel it needs careful planning and preparation.
Some fans are also worried that if Vaazhai 2 fails, it could impact the excitement surrounding the historical film with Dhanush. Because of this, they feel the director should avoid taking risks before starting such a major project.
