India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has fined IndiGo ₹20 lakh for lapses in pilot training procedures. The penalty, issued on 26 September 2025, questions the airline’s adherence to simulator training standards at Category C airports.

The DGCA stated that IndiGo failed to use certified simulators for training pilots operating at Category C airports. These airports are known for their complex terrains and demanding approach conditions, requiring specialised simulator training for safe operations.
