A Hyderabad individual has been sentenced to a 16-year jail term for stabbing his ex-girlfriend in London two years ago. Before the attack, he searched online for methods to kill a human with a knife.
Getting into details, 23-year-old Sriram Ambarla, stabbed his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend, Sona Biju, at a London restaurant named Hyderabad Wala on March 5, 2022.
They met each other at a college in Hyderabad in 2017 and were in a relationship at that time. However, when things didn’t go well, they broke up.
In February 2022, they went to London to pursue master’s at the University of East London.
Kerala-based Sona Biju used to work as a part-time employee at the Hyderabad Wala restaurant in London. On the day of the incident, she treated Sriram like a regular customer. She served him the food he ordered. While she served the food, Sriram was scrolling through his phone unbothered.
According to the prosecutor, Sriram made various searches about “how to kill someone with a knife instantly.”
According to Sriram, he overheard Sona saying that she wanted to celebrate her breakup. On the other side, Sona told police that Sriram threatened to kill her if she didn’t marry him. She told him that she didn’t want to live by his rules. At that point, Sriram got furious and stabbed her repeatedly till she collapsed on the floor.
Sona was treated on time with a local ambulance’s help and was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital.
After hearing the case, the court sentenced Sriram to a 16-year jail term at Old Bailey in London.
