Sweden will not host the first “European Sex Championship” or designate sex as a sport. In April 2023, the Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) rejected the unauthorized Swedish Sex Federation membership application. Dragan Bratych, the Swedish Federation of Sex head, wanted to make sex a sport and arrange the tournament. The RF found the application inadequate and unsatisfactory.
The RF’s chair, Björn Eriksson, said he hoped the motion would be rejected unanimously. Eriksson says the RF has other goals.
Sweden’s declaration and the championship were misrepresented on social media and in news publications from India and Nigeria. These publications misconstrued the application rejection and gave the event formal status. Göteborgs-Posten disproved these assertions in June 2023.
Sex competitions may occur without Sweden’s national sports body’s approval. The Swedish Sex Federation’s application was denied, but the event will proceed. The RF denies involvement in the championship.
The Swedish Federation of Sex website claims the tournament will take place on June 8, 2023, with a live webcast. This event would be staged by an unauthorized organization and not an official Swedish athletic event.
Sweden has not proclaimed sex a sport or hosted the European Sex Championship. The Swedish Sex Federation’s bid to join the Swedish Sports Confederation was denied, hence the event would be unofficial.
