It is reported that almost 40% of all murders of women are committed by intimate partners. Now another such horrific incident has been reported involving an Indian settled in Singapore.
In a chilling courtroom scene, M Krishnan, a married man of Indian origin, faced a shocking verdict: 20 years behind bars for the brutal beating death of his lover, Mallika Begum Rahamansa Abdul Rahman.
The court heard how Krishnan, driven by jealousy over Mallika’s other sexual relationships, unleashed a two-hour frenzy of violence, ultimately leading to her tragic demise on Jan 17, 2019.
Krishnan’s affair with Mallika, which began in 2015, was a bomb waiting to explode. The revelation of Mallika’s adulterous ways in 2019 ignited Krishnan’s fury to deadly levels.
During a drunken verbal spat on Jan 15, 2019, Krishnan’s blows rained down on Mallika, resulting in a fatal head injury as she collided with a cabinet.
The prosecution sought 15 to 18 years’ imprisonment, highlighting the sheer brutality of Krishnan’s actions and his disturbing history of domestic violence. Mallika’s battered body, marked by 112 bruises, bore testament to the horror she endured.
Despite Krishnan’s psychiatric diagnoses, including intermittent explosive disorder (IED), the judge deemed him fully responsible for his actions.
The courtroom atmosphere crackled with tension as the judge delivered her verdict, emphasizing the gravity of Krishnan’s offenses.
The sentence of 20 years served as a stark warning: habitual domestic violence and intoxication could offer no refuge from justice.
