Inspector Jasvir, the Station Cyber Crime Manager in Gurugram, Haryana, learned about fraud at an unlawful contact center on the ground floor of House Number 135, Sector-47. The contact center defrauded USA residents by posing as customer support. The Assistant Commissioner of Police for Cyber Crimes, Vipin Ahlawat, led a raiding squad to the site in the information. The raid revealed that the call center was unlawfully offering technical support to foreigners and committing fraud.
The crew arrested four suspects, contact center owners Nishu, Ashi, Mohammad Rashid, and Abhishek Kashyap. The Cyber Crime Police Station in Gurugram charged and arrested them under relevant laws. Nishu, also known as Nipun, ran the call center with one other person and the aforementioned individuals, according to the defendants’ interrogation. Customer service earned them salary and commissions.
During police interrogation, the contact center owner said they had secured a virtual TFN (Toll-Free Number) to serve US customers of Apple, Amazon, eBay, email blasting, Cash App, and cryptocurrencies. These lines answered calls with Xlite Dialer. Customers called TFN numbers to report problems with Apple, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, email blasting, Cash app, or cryptocurrencies.
Callers impersonated corporate personnel to deceive overseas consumers. As a remedy to the company’s issues, they would request $200–$500 Apple, Amazon, eBay, or Etsy gift card numbers and redeem them for cash. Four mobile phones, four computers, four laptop chargers, four headsets, and one modem used in the scam were recovered from the accused. The court will hear the suspects.
