Indian Father’s Mission: Justice For Son’s Death

Indian Father's Mission Justice For Son's DeathAn Indian origin man in the UK has waged a systemic battle against inadequacy in the state health system following the death of his son. Jay Patel lost his 30 year old son due to what he calls “failures” in treatment and care. He said that his son died in extreme pain and before time. Now the father has taken an initiative to save other people from such neglect in care. He has launched a charity foundation called Patients Lives Matter.

His son’s death has become a matter of importance after he raised his voice and the coroner’s office is looking into the situation that led to the man’s death. In a mission statement, the man said,”Balram died in a huge amount of pain, and discomfort, and before his time, due to a cascade of errors and failures in treatment and care from the hospital consultant and a number of staff.”

Jay has started a campaign to lobby the parliament into allowing patients to access a second consultation and allowing them to opt for a different treatment plan when there’s still time left. The UK government has extended a supporting hand to the issue and the UK Health Secretary said that he is committed to it.
