Shocked by the death of his son in Canada, a woman in Punjab committed suicide in the late hours of this Thursday. The preliminary investigation suggests that the woman was in shock after hearing the news of her son’s demise. The Police received the information Friday morning and started the preliminary investigation. The body of her son was about to reach Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar district for the last rites on the very same day.
The incident in Canada took place in Mississauga on the 9th of July when the 24 year old student from Punjab was delivering pizza on Emerson lane. He was assaulted and the attackers stole his car and fled. The car was later found less than 5 km away from the place where the attack took place. The man succumbed to his injuries on the 14th of July. The police are collecting evidence for the case and have ruled out any connection between the attacker and the victim.
The news was initially kept from the mother but soon it came to light and she couldn’t bear it. The body of the young man reached India on the 27th of July. There was also a candlelight vigil in Mississauga for him in which more than 200 people took part.
