Train Your Staff: US Visa Rejection Stuns Indian CEO

US visa rejection slip shared by Indian CEO

An Indian start-up founder has criticised the US immigration system after his B-1/B-2 visitor visa was rejected for allegedly lacking strong ties to India. The decision surprised him, given that he has built and run his business in India for 13 years.

Jasveer Singh, co-founder and CEO of Knot dating, shared on X that the US Embassy in New Delhi denied his non-immigrant visa under Section 214(b). This section applies when officials believe an applicant shows possible immigration intent.

Posting an image of the rejection slip, Jasveer questioned the assessment by the consulate. He stated that he runs a company in India, employs people locally, pays taxes, and has invested over a decade building his work in the country.

In his post, he said that despite these factors, the consulate felt the evidence was insufficient. He tagged the US Ambassador in India and suggested either the definition of intent is flawed or officers need better training.

Jasveer also raised concerns about expanded social media screening for visa applicants. He wondered if his online posts influenced the decision and quoted a remark suggesting that deleting tweets before interviews could improve approval chances.

He stressed that his case is not isolated. Many Indian applicants are reporting rising visa delays and rejections, even in legitimate cases, as scrutiny has tightened under Trump-era policies.
