David Fincher Plans To Play With Your Mind

David Fincher Plans To Play With Your MindWhenever Netflix and Fincher cook together, they serve something delicious. Now, “Mindhunter,” even if you watch just ten minutes of it, will feel exceptional and serve as a guidebook to Fincher’s world of direction. And that essence is excelling in The Killer.

Recently, Netflix released the trailer for “The Killer,” and it’s a piece of art in itself. It’s intense, with amazing cuts, great background music, and a signature color palette. We can all agree that it delivers tight suspense, which is what Fincher aims for.

During the Venice Film Festival, Fincher had an extensive discussion about his new OTT venture. He delved into how he developed the lead character, a calm and calculated assassin played by Michael Fassbender.

During the conversation, Fincher expressed that he doesn’t want it to be a smooth experience. He wants his audience to become as uncomfortable as possible. His goal is simple: David Fincher hopes that “The Killer” will evoke a feeling of unease, especially the next time you find yourself shopping at Home Depot.

According to Fincher, the concept of sympathy was the furthest thing from his mind when it came to this character. He believed there was no need for the character to be terrifying, instead focusing on the everyday nature of evil.

Most of Fincher’s films play with this concept. He enjoys giving his viewers moments of drama and relishes it when a chill runs down your spine. Just think of “Fight Club,” “Seven,” or perhaps “Zodiac” – he captivates you. And “The Killer” will undoubtedly make you feel every second of the thrill.

The movie is set to hit Netflix on November 10th, and if you haven’t seen the trailer yet, check it out below:
