The trailer of the upcoming Netflix show starring Dulquer Salmaan and Rajkummar Rao, Guns & Gulaabs, has created a sort of record that nobody expected.
Two days before the show premieres on the streaming platform, the trailer has clocked 76.5 million views on YouTube, which is the highest ever for a web series trailer in India. The trailer for “The Family Man” season 2 closely trails with 58 million views.
Many big-budget star hero movies also don’t garner such a number of views. For example, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan Prevue, which got an excellent response, also has only 73 million views till now.
Despite the presence of Dulquer Salmaan and coming from Raj & DK, the interest in Guns & Gulaabs isn’t that high among the Telugu audience as of now. If the web series turns out good, then maybe our audience will start binge-watching it like they did with The Family Man and Farzi.
Guns & Gulaabs is a dark comedy with some infusion of crime, set in the 90s in a town near Delhi. The show takes viewers on a journey back to the ’90s, where the enthralling and pulpy storyline unfolds in the distinct town of Gulaabganj. It premieres on Netflix on August 18.
