Netflix Drops Kangana for Farah & Riteish: Big Mistake?

Lock Upp Season 2 hosts

The reality show Lock Upp is officially returning for a second season with a significant change in its hosting lineup.

Kangana Ranaut, who hosted the show’s debut season in 2022, will not be returning. Instead, the new season will be hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh.

Titled Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, the latest season is set to premiere on Netflix on June 27. The show is being produced through a collaboration between Balaji Telefilms and Netflix.

The recently released teaser introduces Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh inside the show’s familiar prison-themed setting. The preview suggests another season filled with confessions, emotional confrontations and intense competition.

The new edition will feature 14 celebrity contestants living under constant surveillance for six weeks. Participants will face tasks, punishments, eliminations and shifting alliances while remaining isolated from the outside world.

Kangana Ranaut’s bold hosting style played a major role in the success of the first season. Her direct approach helped the show generate significant discussion across social media platforms.

The inaugural season was eventually won by Munawar Faruqui, further boosting the show’s popularity.

With Kangana’s departure, comparisons between the old and new hosting formats are inevitable. However, the makers appear to be banking on Farah Khan’s candid personality and Riteish Deshmukh’s approachable style to bring a fresh identity to the franchise.

The biggest question remains whether viewers will embrace Lock Upp without Kangana Ranaut at the helm. As the premiere date approaches, audience curiosity surrounding the revamped format continues to grow.
