With every passing day, OTT is getting to a stage where it is a part of our lifestyle now. Streaming on Netflix to Binge watching on Prime Video has become our hobby in recent times.
Now if we start a conversation on OTT platforms, we must talk about their original content, their most precious possessions. In terms of popularity, the game is still at Netflix’s yard, others are trailing with massive margins.
The report of the most demanding Original series for the first quarter of the year came to the news. Netflix is practically ruling the chart with almost 38% share in the whole market. They are producing series like Stranger Things, The Sandman, The Good Nurse, and Vikings: Valhalla which gained enough popularity to give them a push to the top.
Prime Video sits in second place. Now, Prime Videos have cracked some local markets but they are trailing far behind from a global perspective. Shows like Farzi and The Family Man became hits in the Indian market but global shows like Citadel or The Rings of Power never reached the expectations of the fans.
After Prime Video’s 10.8% market share, Disney occupies third place with 9.4% market share. From American Born Chinese to a Star Wars spinoff, they suffered not because they had questionable quality, it’s the quantity that makes them sit in the third place.
Apple TV+ and Hulu follow Disney and have a share of 6.8% and 5.1%.
Let’s see if we see any noticeable changes in the report for the next quarter.
