After Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are coming together once again with Haiwaan. A remake of Priyadarshan’s own 2016 film, Oppam, the movie will feature Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan in the lead roles.
Fans were excited to see a glimpse after Akshay announced through his Instagram handle on July 14, 2026, that something from Haiwaan would be released on July 15. Akshay has now revealed the first look of the lead characters in the form of five posters.
All the posters have confirmed the release date as September 11, 2026. One of them features Akshay hiding his eyes with a cap, and he can be spotted with a beard on his face. This is followed by Saif Ali Khan’s look, who appears simple.
The third and fifth posters are the biggest highlights. The third one shows Akshay giving a devilish smile, and the poster is completely in red colour, hinting that audiences might get to see a different side of the actor this time. The final poster shows the same form of Akshay, but with Saif’s face also appearing together, and a little girl in the background.
While Haiwaan’s new posters have started trending, a claim is also going viral on social media. Notably, Haiwaan was originally planned with Ajay Devgn. The film never went on floors since 2016, and after nine years, Priyadarshan reportedly convinced Akshay to do the movie.
Considering the records made by Bhooth Bangla at the box office, expectations are sky-high. Priyadarshan has made some good action thrillers over the years while building a fan base for directing good comedy films at the same time.
Trade experts are specifically waiting to see the new form of Akshay this time, who is portraying a villain. While audiences last saw him in 2.0 as an antagonist, many believed that they could not see the villainous side properly due to the use of VFX for the character.
Online users have reacted by saying that Akshay’s character is specifically going to contribute to the success of Haiwaan. However, critics have stated that what matters most right now is the changes that Priyadarshan has made to the remake, considering that the original arrived ten years ago, and adapting it frame by frame might make it look very outdated.
Trade experts said that since more than a month is left, the release of the posters is a good beginning to promote the film. Let’s wait and see if the teaser, trailer, and other promotional materials will leave a positive impression as expected.
