The trailer of Meghna Gulzar’s Daayra has finally arrived. The movie is releasing on September 18, 2026, and features Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead alongside Kareena Kapoor.
The trailer has added a lot of tension and suspense elements. It clearly shows that two officers working in the same field are going to clash with each other in a race to resolve a mystery. The biggest issue here for them is their way of working, which will either help in catching the culprit or lead to some worse consequences.
Although the trailer is not entirely hard-hitting, a few moments manage to leave an impression. This includes the investigation sequences along with a scene where a mother seemingly finds her daughter after something wrong happens with her.
The trailer clearly does not reveal if it is going to focus on one case until the end or if it is going to be an amalgamation of multiple cases linked to one person. The concept of girls’ safety has been used in the trailer as we get to see Prithviraj reacting in a different manner while addressing that one among many girls fails to return home safely.
As of now, nothing much can be said until the trailer is out in theatres. Meghna Gulzar has undoubtedly brought something new this time, which she has done for most of the time. The biggest difference between Meghna’s previous films and Daayra is that this one appears a little more intense as it goes up to the level of the Mardaani franchise.
While Meghna’s films have not been commercial potboilers, they have worked when the content is up to the mark. Alia Bhatt also gave one of the best performances of her career with Raazi in 2018.
This time, Meghna has brought a talented face like Prithviraj. Compared to what audiences saw in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Meghna has clearly utilized Prithviraj here. On the other hand, Kareena appears in her usual self without offering anything new. But there is a possibility that the trailer has hidden something, which will be revealed directly in the film.
The taste of the audience has changed with time. In this case too, Daayra has to entirely depend upon word-of-mouth, specifically in a period where the market is crowded with films that are doing decent business at the box office. Let’s wait and see if Daayra will survive in between all this.
