Don 3 Shelved Again? Ranveer Singh & Farhan Akhtar’s Film Faces Major Setback
The much-anticipated Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Farhan Akhtar, has hit another roadblock—this time serious enough to potentially shelve the film once more.
Originally set to begin shooting in the second half of 2025, the project is now in limbo following the unexpected exit of its lead antagonist, Vikrant Massey. Reports suggest that Massey walked away after last-minute script changes left his role feeling “superficial” and lacking depth.
This isn’t the first casting hurdle for Don 3. Earlier, Kiara Advani was in talks for the female lead but had to step away due to her pregnancy. The role eventually went to Kriti Sanon, and filming was about to commence when the latest setback occurred.
The production has faced repeated delays in the past, partly due to Farhan Akhtar’s busy schedule with 120 Bahadur and Ranveer Singh’s commitments to Dhurandhar. Similar fate befell Farhan’s other projects, including the much-talked-about road trip film Jee Le Zara, which remains stalled.
Industry insiders claim Farhan has now unofficially told Ranveer that Don 3 will not move forward for the time being. With both lead actor and director unable to align schedules, the wait for the next Don installment could stretch well into 2026—or longer.
Fans, who were already adjusting to Ranveer stepping into Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic role, are now left disappointed yet again. Whether Don 3 will eventually make it to the big screen remains uncertain, as the so-called “Don curse” continues to haunt the franchise.
