Iconic Singer Slams His Hit Song—”I Don’t Care!”

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya Slams His Hit Song

Officially announced just days ago, Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde are all set to headline the upcoming romantic comedy Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.

As new developments unfold, it was revealed that the film will be featuring a recreated version of the iconic 1999 song Chunari Chunari from Biwi No. 1.

Originally sung by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the song was picturized on Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen and has since remained a fan favorite at almost every wedding or party for over two decades.

However, in a recent interview, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya cleared the air regarding his take on the remake, stating he wasn’t even informed about it—and he doesn’t particularly care.

The veteran singer added that nobody even bothered to inform him before the news broke out, implying that neither the music director nor filmmaker David Dhawan made any effort to reach out to him.

When questioned if the remake bothers him, he just shrugged it off, saying he doesn’t get involved in such petty things.

Abhijeet further revealed that Chunari Chunari was never his personal favorite and it wasn’t even that great of a song in the first place.

He further shared how the song was recorded in a hurry, and at the time of its making, the focus was more on making the lyrics a hit rather than the music or performance.

Despite his indifference, Abhijeet acknowledged its popularity, noting how he still hears it widely played at functions and parties.

Although for someone who doesn’t care, his comments didn’t feel truly indifferent; the salty remarks about the song not even being that great just before its remake tell a different story.

It’s no lie that Bollywood more often than not fails to deliver a remake that lives up to its original, an issue that might bug a lot of original curators who worked long and hard to create a gem that still holds value after decades.

As for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, it’ll be interesting to see what new rendition the filmmaker and composer come up with, or will they ruin another classic just for views and engagement?
