Neeraj Ghaywan’s new film Homebound recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and has received a 9-minute standing ovation. Produced by Karan Johar, the film includes Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor among the leads.
Videos from the event have gone viral on social media platforms, where Karan was spotted getting emotional as he hugged Neeraj during the standing ovation. Janhvi was also spotted in the same condition as Ishaan stood by the side with a smile on his face.
While the leads are yet to share their experience with the moment on social media, it seems like Homebound might leave an emotional impact on the audience.
The basic premise is about close friendship and the circumstances that bring problems between two people who have been close to each other for a long time.
Although Vishal Jethwa has proved his potential in films like Mardaani 2 and Salaam Venky, Ishaan Khatter and Jahnvi Kapoor are yet to get a big break following which people will get interested to buy tickets for their films.
On the other hand, the concept of the film is something that people have seen a lot of times over the years.
In today’s situation where audiences prefer entertainment and are craving for films like Pathaan, Jawan, Gadar 2, and Animal, Homebound’s survival in terms of box office collections is a big question for now.
Although a release date is not out yet, the makers have to choose a rare situation to bring Homebound to the audience where no big films are giving competition for 2-3 weeks and opt for a solo release. Let’s wait for more updates to get better clarity.
