Following the almost positive response to The Diplomat, John Abraham is being careful while choosing his scripts. As per the latest update, the actor will be a part of a superhero film directed by Abhishek Sharma, marking their second collaboration after Parmanu.
An insider said that everyone involved with the film is excited to work on it since it will be a different kind of cinema with a big budget, bringing a new kind of experience for all those visiting the theatres.
The film is supposed to go on floors in 2026 and is titled Munkeeman. The main premise will reportedly be taken from a book, also written by Abhishek. The book was launched in 2012 and takes inspiration from the Monkey Man incident that happened in Delhi the same year.
The official synopsis says that a creature was creating certain issues in the summer of 2001 in Delhi. However, no one was aware of the creature’s identity, and the creature suddenly disappeared. The creature returned as Munkeeman, and he is India’s authentic superhero.
While the makers have not made any official announcements in the form of a poster or teaser, Munkeeman might be made in a budget of somewhere between Rs. 100-150 crores since VFX and sets are going to be costly for a superhero film.
John’s The Diplomat collected almost Rs. 45 crores at the box office. It seems like John is working to present himself in a different form with every film from now onwards. Parmanu was also a good film, and Abhishek is a talented director.
However, the big question right now is how long audiences have to wait to watch the film and whether John will impress everyone in the role of a superhero.
The content of certain films becomes outdated as soon as they face delays, leading to their failure at the end of the theatrical run.
The entire team of Munkeeman now needs to ensure that the film starts without delay, and they have to create a good script with a good storyline, which will help them to recover more than the invested money at the box office.
Let’s wait and see if Munkeeman will happen as scheduled, or will it get postponed for some reason.
