Krissann Barretto, a famous television actress from Sasural Simar Ka, has spoken about the deep influence of Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide on her career and personal life.

The two were close friends while working in the TV industry, and after Sushant’s suicide on June 14, 2020, Krissann was among the few who openly grieved his death and raised questions about the circumstances of his death.

In a recent interview, she articulated the dilemma of actors in mourning in public. “In India, if you’re an actor, you can’t grieve,” she said, highlighting that true feelings are usually misunderstood as efforts to gain publicity.

This was the reason her ordeal became even more difficult as she wanted to pay tribute to her friend and not gain fame. Her frankness, however, came at a very high price. Krissann also disclosed that some production companies blacklisted her after she spoke out against Sushant’s demise.

“I was deprived of work,” she confessed, admitting that speaking up had risks involved. In spite of losing employment opportunities and professional wrath, she refuses to budge.

“I lost a lot and earned nothing,” she stated, clarifying that she acted out of loyalty toward Sushant and not self-interest. Krissann Barretto is unwavering in her belief, commenting that nobody would risk their profession for fleeting fame.
