Animal emerged as a landmark film for Indian cinema and delivered massive box office numbers. The film also introduced audiences to the intense and angry bearded protagonist template. Since its release, anticipation for the sequel has remained extremely high.
Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had earlier confirmed that a sequel to Animal is in development. The film has been officially titled Animal Park. This announcement further strengthened fan excitement around the franchise.
In a recent interview, Ranbir Kapoor shared an update on the film’s timeline. He confirmed that Animal Park is expected to go on floors in 2027. This revelation has given fans a clearer idea of the long wait ahead.
Ranbir stated that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is taking time to shape the film exactly as he imagines it. He expressed strong faith in the director’s vision. Ranbir also revealed that the franchise is planned as a three-part series.
Animal Park will serve as the second instalment of the trilogy. Ranbir confirmed that shooting for the sequel is scheduled to begin in 2027. He also shared that discussions around the story have been ongoing since the first film.
The actor further revealed a major twist about his role in the sequel. In Animal Park, Ranbir Kapoor will play two characters. One will be the protagonist, while the other will be the antagonist.
If filming begins in 2027, the release timeline is expected to be pushed further. Fans may have to wait until 2028 to see the film in theatres. The long production process makes an earlier release unlikely.
Considering pre-production, filming, and post-production, the project is expected to take at least a year. This makes a 2027 release nearly impossible. A 2028 theatrical release appears more realistic at this stage.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with his upcoming project Spirit. The film stars Prabhas and Triptii Dimri and is slated for release next year. This project is currently his top priority.
Once Spirit is completed, Vanga will shift focus to Animal Park. Fans will need patience before seeing Ranbir Kapoor return as Vijay. The wait, however, is expected to build even more anticipation.
