Salman Khan’s Eid release, Sikandar, has generated buzz in trade circles about its box office prospects. Trade expert Sumit Kadel is estimating a day one collection of ₹30-35 crores, which could increase to ₹40 crore+ if the trailer makes a good impact.
The second day, being the Eid holiday, should see an increase to ₹45-50 crore, if word-of-mouth is good. This takes the estimated two-day total to approximately ₹70-80 crore, with a chance of going past ₹90 crore if the movie is received well.

But these figures look small in relation to Shah Rukh Khan’s recent box office figures. SRK’s Pathaan did a non-holiday opening of ₹55 crore, while Jawan did ₹65 crore on a half-holiday.
Salman’s figures, even on the festival release of Eid, look smaller by comparison, and one wonders whether he has been overtaken by SRK in terms of box office draw.

With his recent movies not being able to generate the frenzy once associated with his name, a good opening for Sikandar is essential to regain his hold and remind people of his unmatched star power especially during the festive period.
