Ajay Devgn and director Abhishek Pathak are collaborating for another time after Drishyam 2. While a title has not been made official, the film is reported to be a family thriller, and a release date of October 2, 2026, has been confirmed for now.
Panorama Studios will return to produce the film along with Viacom 18. The news arrives around a day after a viral letter filed with the Bombay Stock Exchange stated that Drishyam 3 was in the making with Ajay and Abhishek.

Although a confirmation on the title is currently awaited, the latest announcement is creating headlines for another reason, and it is linked to Shah Rukh Khan’s film King, also releasing in 2026.
There were reports a few days ago that SRK’s upcoming action-thriller was aiming to arrive on Gandhi Jayanti, i.e., October 2, the same day when Ajay and Abhishek’s film would be released.

In case SRK decides to bring his film on the same day, we might get to see a big clash between two big superstars. Notably, SRK and Ajay have previously clashed on another occasion in 2022, when Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar were released the same day.
While Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar emerged as big hits at the time, the situation has slightly changed today. People prefer to see good content, and both films or one of them would turn out to be successful if the content is up to the mark.

Just because Ajay’s film is a family thriller does not mean that it won’t attract big crowds, specifically at the single screens. Both films have the potential to impress the masses.
On the other hand, Ajay Devgn gives the best competition in terms of clash. He does not back off once he announces that he will be clashing with another film the same day.
Back in 2012, Jab Tak Hai Jaan’s box office numbers were also impacted due to Son of Sardaar. The former could have made better records if it received a solo release. But people could not avoid Son of Sardaar at the same time due to its entertaining elements.
Even if 2025 has been unable to deliver the desired results in terms of the highest-grossing films, 2026 might bring some good news.
Let’s wait and see if the promotional materials of both films would leave an impression in any manner, creating hype among the audience.
