Welcome to the Jungle is set to release next Friday and has completed its censor formalities. The film has received a U/A 16+ certificate, making it accessible to a wider audience. However, the certification process came with several modifications and edits.
According to reports, the film underwent 18 cuts before receiving clearance. Certain dialogues were modified, while several words and references were either muted or removed as part of the censor board’s recommendations.
The edits also reportedly include the removal of some glamorous visuals. Bikini shots, close-up visuals, and a few sequences featuring Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez were trimmed. In addition, anti-alcohol warnings have been added wherever required.
Despite the number of edits, the total duration removed is said to be only around ten seconds. The film’s certified runtime stands at 165 minutes, making it one of the longer commercial entertainers scheduled for release this year.
The runtime has become a major talking point among moviegoers. An earlier interview featuring Akshay Kumar suggested that the film was initially edited at nearly four hours before being shortened significantly. However, his mention of a 145-minute runtime has created confusion because the censor certificate reportedly lists the film at 165 minutes.
Even with these discussions, fans remain excited as the film cleared the certification process without major hurdles. The franchise value, ensemble cast, and comedy genre continue to generate curiosity ahead of release.
Industry observers have also debated the impact of the removed visuals. Some trade analysts believe the cuts could affect the film’s appeal in certain markets, while others feel the entertainment content will be the key factor in determining audience response.
With a reported budget in the range of Rs. 250-280 crores, the film faces significant expectations at the box office. Ultimately, strong word-of-mouth and audience reception will play a crucial role in deciding whether Welcome to the Jungle emerges as a commercial success.
