The North Indian market is one of those zones where any filmmaker can earn profits if the content is up to the mark. This is that particular spot that contributed to the creation of multiple blockbusters over the years.

Many people have questioned about the one particular thing that leads to more collections in these areas. The answer is simple – Hindi. It is described as a language that is easy to learn and understand for individuals from any region. The films made in this language have never been ignored by the audience.

It is the effort of Goldmines and other companies that even South films are getting dubbed into Hindi versions. This also started the trend of pan-India projects aiming for net collections of more than Rs. 500 crores, specifically in Hindi markets.

While Baahubali 2: The Conclusion was the first to enter this club, some Hindi films also managed to touch the mark. Let’s have a look at those titles.

1. Pushpa 2: The Rule

The journey to becoming the Icon Star from a Stylish Star involved a lot of hard work. With humongous expectations after the success of the first part, Allu Arjun proved another time that he can deliver better with each film. Pushpa 2: The Rule is the best example of the same.

Phrases like “Main Jhukega Nahi Saala” were already trending on social media with the help of memes and other things. This helped the action-drama take a big opening and continued its historical run that will be remembered forever.

According to Box Office India, it recorded a net collection of Rs. 750 crores only in Hindi, along with footfalls of almost Rs. 4 crores.

2. Stree 2

When the first Stree was made, no one expected Dinesh Vijan to create a new universe out of it. While many people say that it creates fatigue, leading to failures at one point, Dinesh and Maddock Films came together to entertain the audience with Stree 2.

The blending of horror and comedy, the presence of a headless ghost, and the journey of five friends to find a solution easily pulled audiences. The paid previews a day before release were fully packed, followed by a run of multiple weeks, leading to net collections of Rs. 585 crores in Hindi.

3. Chhaava

Historical films are now rarely made in Bollywood. It involves a lot of risk, and there is a fear of getting rejected if the audiences feel that they are watching a documentary.

But Chhaava was different. Right from the first teaser, the makers promised an entertaining and inspiring journey where the general public would also connect with the main character. The strategy worked, and the audiences started loving the film, alongside giving it the tag of a blockbuster, with Hindi net collections of Rs. 570 crores.

4. Jawan

Shah Rukh Khan’s name is sufficient to pull audiences. His charm, screen presence, and smile cannot make anyone resist for a long time. Atlee and SRK’s collaboration in Jawan was targeted at the masses who love hardcore action films and the fans who were waiting for another comeback after Pathaan.

There was a message related to corruption and a few flashbacks that made the viewers emotional. While Atlee was accused of copying scenes from other films, the masses did not care about it, and they whistled and enjoyed themselves for three hours. Box Office India’s website revealed that the masala entertainer’s net collection in Hindi was Rs. 565 crores.

5. Gadar 2

New and old actors continued to make different films. But people questioned why Sunny Deol did not follow the same route for a long time. A few also claimed that his films cannot attract audiences anymore.

Things changed with Gadar 2. The roar of a hero to save his son in Pakistan was enough to leave an impression. Moreover, the recreation of the iconic handpump scene created a different kind of atmosphere everywhere, including the luxurious multiplex screens.

The action-drama is a lesson that a controlled budget will always keep you safe, and the Hindi net collections of Rs. 525 crores prove the same.

6. Pathaan

After two flops, the audience seemingly gave up on Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar then disappeared from the screen for five years, except for giving interviews, appearing on reality shows, and a cameo on Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.

While people were wondering about his whereabouts, the news of Pathaan started trending, and the teaser came out. The Baadshah surprised everyone with his swag. Siddharth Anand’s vision, Deepika Padukone’s glamour, John Abraham’s intimidating presence as Jim, and the action sequences, similar to a Hollywood film, created a lot of excitement.

The film smashed all records with an opening of Rs. 55 crores. Trade experts declared it as the comeback of the king, and the net collections touched the mark of Rs. 515 crores.

7. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion

After surprising everyone with the story of a fly in Eega, S.S. Rajamouli opted for a premise of love and revenge set in a fictional kingdom.

Audiences were attracted by the screen presence and physique of Rebel Star Prabhas in Baahubali: The Beginning. But the wait was longer for the answer to the question: “Why Katappa killed Baahubali?” People entered the theatres without having any second thoughts to see the mystery being resolved and the triumph of good over evil in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.

Hindi audiences also could not stop themselves, and the North Indian markets recorded a net collection of Rs. 511 crores, along with footfalls of Rs. 5 crores. The impact was different, with Prabhas becoming a topic of discussion among the Hindi-speaking viewers.

8. Animal

Ranbir Kapoor is chopping hundreds of bad guys, and his face is covered with blood. This is hard to imagine. But Sandeep Reddy Vanga was confident as he brought a different side out of RK, who undoubtedly worked hard to satisfy the public.

The A-rating for Ranbir’s film never happened in the past, and audiences kept on thinking about whether Animal will deliver entertainment as expected. And it did. The graphic scenes and concept were disturbing for a few, but it attracted the masses. Box Office India reports that the film’s Hindi net collections were between Rs. 490-500 crores.

The industry is currently going through a rough phase. In certain cases, even pan-India films are being ignored. However, Kantara: Chapter 1 has managed to give some hope to the theatre owners. After the successful run of the previous installment in the Hindi market, audiences are showing interest in the prequel.

While initial expectations were set at the mark of Rs. 500 crores in North India, the ongoing situation is hinting that it will struggle to cross Rs. 200 crores. Based on that, let’s see who will enter the 500-crore club.
