Christopher Nolan In Telugu: Real Or Madness?

Christopher Nolan and Telugu cinema debate

The most celebrated Hollywood film maker of this generation, Christopher Nolan has tasted another tremendous blockbuster at the ticket counters with The Odyssey. This film released in theatres on July 17, and is currently running successfully with exceptional revenues globally.

But more relevantly, there is a lot of commentary that is happening about the working style of Christopher Nolan and how it is completely different to that of Telugu cinema.

There are multiple social media posts about Christopher Nolan could execute a film on a budget of $250 million in a span of just 90 days shooting. It is being reported that Nolan had completed the entire production process of this film within an estimated timeline and allocated just 90 days for the shoot and completed it before the timeline.

People are questioning the working style of Telugu directors who spend multiple years on a single film while a legendary Director was able to execute such a big project in such short time.

This might be extremely wishful thinking as such production timelines are simply not possible in Telugu cinema. This industry is almost entirely run by artists and technicians rather than a stipulated and streamlined process.

There will be multiple factors, including data issues and sensibilities of the main heroes which could include corrections during filming and reshoots. With so many factors involved, it is next to impossible to maintain a strict timeline for the execution of a project.

This doesn’t validate the fact that Telugu cinema must spend so many months or even years on a single film, but that is how things are sadly. But yes, at the end of the day, it would be fun and games if our production teams are also able to execute projects within such strict timelines.
