Two major films, Dhurandhar and Toxic, are set to clash at the box office on 19th March. The upcoming face off has created strong curiosity among audiences. Many are eager to see which film will dominate the big screen.
Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently shared his views on this clash. He described it as a battle between two styles of cinema. According to him, it reflects a difference in filmmaking approach rather than a North versus South cultural divide.
Ram Gopal Varma pointed out that Bollywood and South cinema often follow different creative patterns. While both Toxic and Dhurandhar are mounted on a grand scale, he stressed that their storytelling sensibilities are completely different.
He stated that Dhurandhar assumes the audience is intelligent and capable of understanding layered storytelling. In contrast, he claimed that Toxic treats viewers as passive consumers. His remarks have triggered debate across social media platforms.
The director praised Dhurandhar for avoiding hero worship and focusing on meaningful narrative depth. He said the film allows viewers to interpret characters based on their own moral sense. He also appreciated its realistic action and thoughtful execution.
On the other hand, he criticised Toxic for relying heavily on VFX and exaggerated action. He described it as a spectacle driven by scale and star power. According to him, such films prioritise visual grandeur over substance.
Ram Gopal Varma clarified that his comments were not intended to flatter Aditya Dhar. He said his opinion comes from a desire to see Indian cinema invest in meaningful storytelling. His statement has now intensified discussion around the March 19 release clash.
