In his latest YouTube podcast, top producer Dil Raju made some massive claims about his upcoming pan-India film with Salman Khan, tentatively titled SVC63, directed by Vamshi Paidipally.
Speaking about the project, Dil Raju said the film is being mounted on a scale that no Indian filmmaker has attempted before. He added that the rushes have already impressed him and promised a strong “wow factor” throughout the film.
According to him, the shoot will be wrapped up by October. He also revealed that Salman Khan will be seen in multiple never-before-seen avatars, with the film packed with whistle-worthy entry sequences, goosebumps-inducing elevations, and several mass moments. Dil Raju expressed complete confidence in investing heavily in the project.
While the producer’s confidence is understandable, the project has also sparked discussion among trade circles.
On paper, it appears to be a high-risk combination.
Salman Khan is undoubtedly one of India’s biggest stars, but he is also going through one of the worst phases of his career. It has been nearly a decade since he delivered a clean box-office hit, and his recent films have failed to meet expectations.
The second question mark is director Vamshi Paidipally.
Although he has delivered commercial successes in the past, a section of the audience now feels his style of filmmaking has become predictable and outdated compared to changing audience tastes.
That naturally raises one important question: Is Dil Raju taking another massive gamble?
The comparison with Game Changer is inevitable.
That film too was mounted on a huge scale with Ram Charan and Shankar. On paper, it looked like a dream combination. But despite the star power and enormous budget, it failed to justify expectations, leading to huge financial losses. Ram Charan was heavily trolled, while many felt Shankar’s execution had become outdated by the time the film released.
Now, Dil Raju is once again backing an expensive project featuring a star looking for a comeback and a director whose recent work has not generated much excitement.
Of course, cinema has always been unpredictable. A single blockbuster can completely change a star’s career, and both Salman Khan and Vamshi Paidipally have the experience to deliver a successful commercial entertainer.
Dil Raju clearly believes SVC63 has that potential. But considering recent box-office trends, many in the industry view it as one of the biggest risks of his career.
Whether it becomes a spectacular comeback or another costly mistake will be known when the film releases on Eid 2027.
