One of the big seasons Sankranthi went away and obviously cine industries across India would be looking out for the biggest holiday season i.e., summer. What is getting between films and summer season in Tollywood is the ongoing World Cup Cricket Matches. Though team India’s performance is winning all applause, many small films are suffering trying to come up with a amicable release date to see that the ticket counters aren’t affected by the ongoing cricket matches.
March, April and May are going to see the rush of many big and small films to go for a theatricial release and planning especially for small films has become a big criteria. March release is going to be affected by cricket season and in April and May they would be sandwitched between big budget films. Better they choose March and gamble with cricket.
Many small and medium budget films are going to offer summer fun for Telugu audiences. Nani’s ‘Yevade Subramanyam’ and ‘Jendapai Kapiraju’, Sandeep Kishan’s ‘Tiger’, hat trick producer Sai Korrapati’s ‘Tungabadhra’, Rahul Ravindran’s ‘Hyderabad Love Story’ and bilingual ‘Moodu Mukkallo Cheppaalante’ are all ready to test their luck .
Coming to big movies, Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ok Bangaram’, Allu Arjun’s ‘S/O Satyamurthy’, Naga Chaitanya’s ‘Dochay’, Gopichand’s ‘Jill’, Sai Dharam Tej’s ‘Rey’, Ram’s ‘Pandaga Chesko’, Balakrishna’s ‘Lion’, Suriya’s ‘Masss’, Ravi Teja’s ‘Kick 2’, and not to forget the period dramas Guna Sekhar’s ‘Rudramadevi’ and Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ are getting ready for even more bigger feast.
Exams and cricket might be a little bit distracting for Tollywood market, but that isn’t going to hamper the spirit of TFI. The most important thing is the non-availability of screens for small films and huge competition between the big films to grab maximum number of theatres for release. Either way, audiences are going to be offered sumptuos meal for sure and even options to choose from variety. What say?
