It looks like the Telugu filmmakers are still keen on playing the waiting game. The upcoming Sankranthi is likely to be less crowded this time. As things stand, Rana’s Aranya, Ravi Teja’s Krack, and Vijay’s Master are going to be the only releases in the festive season.
Akhil Akkineni’s Most Eligible Bachelor, Nithin’s Rang De, and Ram’s Red which were earlier lined up for Sankranthi may miss the boat. Red may release for Republic Day while Most Eligible Bachelor may opt for a Summer release.
Rang De is still thinking on the lines if it should opt for an OTT release. Nagarjuna’s Wild Dog may have a simultaneous release on Netflix and theaters. In such a case, the movie may release in January not sure if they will opt for Sankranthi.
The 50% occupancy and lack of clarity on the mood of the audience are the showstoppers for filmmakers planning their releases for the festive season.
