Vishwak Sen’s Cult has opened to a very poor response at the box office. The film collected around Rs. 1.5 crores gross on Day 1 and has failed to show any significant growth on Day 2.
Cult has collected approximately Rs. 3 crores gross worldwide in its first two days. According to trade estimates, the film needs around Rs. 20-22 crores gross worldwide to reach breakeven. However, its opening weekend is now heading towards just Rs. 5-6 crores gross.
The numbers are worrying for Vishwak Sen, who has struggled to deliver decent openings ever since Laila. Cult was expected to provide some relief, but the response has been extremely disappointing.
If the film fails to pick up over the next few days, it could turn into another huge disaster for Vishwak after Mechanic Rocky, Laila and Funky. With such a massive gap between the breakeven target and current collections, the film has very little room for further drops.
Vishwak Sen’s next hopes are pinned on Tharun Bhascker’s sequel ENE Repeat. After a string of disappointments, he desperately needs a solid comeback.
Vishwak Sen was once expected to emerge as the next big star after the way he made his entry into Tollywood a few years ago. He showed the potential to build a strong career, but a series of box office failures has put him in a difficult position. His career now seems to be in doldrums, which is heartbreaking to see.
