Chennai Story is back in the news, with Shruti Haasan expressing her excitement about the Indo-UK project and what the story means to her personally.
Shruti, who hails from Chennai, said the film is special because it showcases the diversity and uniqueness of the city. She also expressed her excitement about working with director Phil and highlighted the importance of telling rooted stories through international collaborations.

The film has an interesting journey behind it. Samantha Ruth Prabhu was initially attached to the project before Shruti Haasan came on board as the lead. The film is based on Timeri N. Murari’s novel The Arrangements of Love and is directed by Philip John.
Set between Chennai and Wales, the story follows Anu, a private detective who gets involved in a search for a missing father. The project is being made as an Indo-UK collaboration, with the British Film Institute’s UK Global Screen Fund also backing the film.
For Shruti, the Chennai connection makes the project particularly personal. Rather than simply being another international film, Chennai Story gives her an opportunity to take a story rooted in her own city to a wider audience.
The combination of a local story, an international production and Shruti Haasan in the lead makes Chennai Story an interesting project to watch as it moves forward.
