Sobhita Dhulipala has opened up about why she left home for Mumbai at just 16, and her comments are now getting attention after she spoke about the judgement people face for choosing a different path.
The actress was responding to influencer Ahalya’s comments about Telugu people pulling down their own. Sobhita said she could relate to that and brought up her own experience. Leaving for Mumbai at that age was a big decision, especially when she had no idea what would happen next.
Sobhita felt that people around her were not always welcoming towards those who wanted to do things differently. The actress also felt women had to deal with more judgement when they chose a career or lifestyle outside what was expected of them.
Mumbai eventually became the place where she found her own path. She started with modelling before moving into films and later became a familiar face in Telugu and Hindi cinema.
Sobhita was speaking about her own experience rather than making a statement about every Telugu person. She also said she hopes things have changed now.
Still, she clearly remembers the mindset she came across back then. And she ended her response with four words that pretty much summed up her mood: “Grow wings, and a spine.”
