Shah Rukh Khan’s latest venture, “Dunki,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, has been doing fair business at the box office. However, it falls short of the blockbuster success achieved by SRK’s previous films, “Jawan” and “Pathaan.”
In a recent conversation with Rajkumar Hirani, the filmmaker disclosed that Shah Rukh Khan had forewarned him about the anticipated performance of “Dunki.”
A few months ago, SRK had candidly shared with Hirani that while “Pathaan” and “Jawan” garnered huge box office success, “Dunki” might not reach the same heights.
According to Hirani, SRK conveyed that “Pathaan” and “Jawan” were grand action spectacles that resonated with a broad audience, a trend in high demand. He advised Hirani not to expect similar box office numbers for “Dunki,” emphasizing that it would fare well within its own domain.
Hirani’s revelation underscores that Shah Rukh Khan had accurately assessed the limited appeal of “Dunki” and had cautioned him to keep the box office expectations in check and hope for the best.
Despite not reaching the scale of his previous hits, SRK believed in the film’s ability to connect with family audiences and find success in its own distinctive way.
