Yash’s Toxic is now facing a serious box-office crisis in the Hindi market. The film opened superbly on Wednesday with around Rs. 53 crores, but collections have been falling sharply with each passing day. The film is showing almost no growth as the weekend progresses.
The Hindi version collected around Rs. 53.5 crores on Wednesday, followed by approximately Rs. 22 crores on Thursday and Rs. 18.5 crores on Friday. Early estimates for Saturday suggest another drop or, at best, no meaningful growth, with the film expected to collect around Rs. 17-18 crores. That would take the four-day Hindi total to roughly Rs. 113 crores. Sunday advances are also weak.
The biggest worry is the Monday crash as Toxic could fall into single digits immediately after the weekend.
Such a trend would indicate extremely weak word of mouth and could put the film among the worst-trending big releases ever. The trend is already being compared to Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan, which also collapsed badly after a huge opening.
Ironically, Hindi remains Toxic’s strongest market because of the goodwill Yash built through the KGF franchise. That brand value brought audiences in on Day 1, but the content has faced outright rejection. A film that opens at Rs. 53 crores and then goes into free fall has very little room to recover.
If the current trend continues, Toxic could struggle to cross even Rs. 150 crores in its lifetime Hindi run. Even if the film manages to survive in mass centers, the best-case scenario may be around Rs. 180 crores lifetime in Hindi.
That would be a shockingly poor result after a gigantic Rs. 53 crores opening.
For a Yash film arriving after the historic KGF franchise, the downfall would be particularly brutal.
